An Attraction and Retention Strategy for the Next Generation (15-35 years) in Niagara
Who are we?
NEXTNiagara is a regional initiative led by a panel of next generation community leaders (ages 15-35) who want to see Niagara grow as a prosperous community.
We are working together to create a retention and attraction strategy to support and help coordinate the efforts of local government, education and community organizations, to make Niagara a region of choice for Niagara`s next generation.
NEXTNiagara…
- is the voice of the emerging generation in Niagara
- distributes information to the emerging generation in Niagara
- connects the emerging generation to learning, community and career opportunities in Niagara
- engages and mobilizes the emerging generation to participate in their community
What do we do?
The NEXTNiagara Advisory Panel is currently hosting an online survey that seeks to get the youth perspective on Niagara and its future. 1000 youth aged 15 – 35 give their honest feedback about community, sustainability, their perceptions of Niagara and future opportunities (in an effort to develop a youth attraction and retention strategy- to be released next Spring)
The findings of this survey will be presented at the My Future Niagara Summit on Friday, October 21, 2011.
The event will connect current and future leaders in constructive dialogue about the direction of the region and how our collective efforts will inspire future generations in Niagara to live, work, and STAY.
Survey: Who is Involved?
NEXTNiagara is an initiative delivered by the Niagara Workforce Planning board, in partnership with the YMCA of Niagara, the Business Education Council of Niagara, Niagara Region, Brock Univeristy, Niagara College, DSBN, NCDSB and Counseil Scolaire Viamonde.
It is funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
